Abstract
Purpose: To assess the relationship between final result of clinical image quality evaluation (CIQE) of mammography and forms of employment of radiologists.

Materials and Methods: We analyzed manpower and results of new factors of CIQE of mammography in 2011 annual inspection of National Cancer Screening Program. We decided pass or fail of CIQE using appropriateness of report, score of CIQE, and certification of ¡®quality control education¡¯ and analyzed classification of medical institutes and forms of employment of radiologists among failed institutions.

Results: Among 113 institutions, forms of employment of radiologists were full-time in 65.5%, part-time 31.9%, and unknown 2.6%. Part-time radiologists were belonged to clinics 56.1%, associations 50.0%, hospitals 18.9%, but not general hospitals. Technologists had full-time jobs in 92.0%. Rates of appropriate report and assessment of parenchymal patterns, and pass of CIQE were 89.4% (101/113), 95.6% (108/113), and 70.8% (80/113), respectively. Failed institutions are 43.9% of clinics, 26.4% of hospitals, 16.7% of associations, but none of general hospitals. Institutions having part-time radiologists were more commonly failed than those with full-time radiologists (69.4% vs. 9.5%) (p < 0.05).

Conclusion: Failed institutions in CIQE are 7 times more common in those having part-time radiologists than those with full-time radiologists. Part-time radiologists are commonly belonged to clinics and associations.
